A new term in the security industry and safety industry. Global Lockdown.
When electromechanical locks are networked together they have the ability to be accessed remotely thus allowing for a quick response in case of critical situation. With the click of a mouse at a central computer base all door locks can be set to a lockdown.
Educational institutions have been integrating these systems in with their existing systems or completely revamping the physical security all together to use to protect student from intruders.
There are many functions of locks that also were designed as needed and now “security locks” “intruder locks” have been added to the list.
As we all know, necessity is the mother of all invention. We also know that what was yesterday may not be relevant today. We must continue to work on either keeping up with the changes or stay ahead of them. There has always been an unfortunate learning curve throughout life. What I mean is, when a tragic incident occurs that may have been prevented “if” we were prepared or after the fact we adapt new plans and implement new material to prevent the situation again.
We would have to foretell the future in order to create, implement and change our life style prior to a specific incident occurrence.
We must be proactive and I believe the lock manufacturers are doing a great job keeping up with the changes and giving us security professionals the products we need to protect you, your families, and children.
