Store front doors can be much more complicated to work on than they used to be. New fire code regulations in many areas have changed the way they are required to operate. In most situations, the current hardware can be fitted with the proper parts to bring them up to code, but in some areas, things like slide bolts are no longer allowed and must be replaced with an interlocking system in which both doors would lock with the motion of one key, when dealing with double doors. Please consult with a local fire martial or a good locksmith to find if your storefront is up to code.
