Many people use there garage doors as their main entry way into their home. This makes things a lot easier sometimes because, having the larger electric garage door closed and locked, they feel its ok to leave the inside door unlocked, saving you from having to fumble with keys when you get home. This is an ok, and safe option, however when your power goes out, that main door will no longer open, and you will have to use a secondary door to open your home. One issue we run into as locksmiths is that many people only seem to have keys to the garage door, or they don’t se their other doors enough, so they corrode and stick. Please check all exterior doors on your home, regardless weather you use them, because in a pinch they could save you a locksmith’s fee to let you in.
