Longevity, commitment, tenure, dedication, assurance, loyalty… simply put. Give me great service (I’m willing to pay) before, during and after the sale and I’m yours.
How many of us had our handy rolodex or business card books we kept so ready to paw through to pick our prized service tech, store, or any connection that we wanted to keep?
I did. It was always available to be opened so I could pass on my experience to the next.
I have been a customer of Verizon Wireless before it was VW. I believe it was Cellular One or something like that. I even had the first T-Mobile push to talk phone when first arrived in Michigan. Verizon Wireless used to throw products at me as well as themselves to help me or make sure I was satisfied. I could have had 20 telephones on my account and if I went in with a problem I walked out with a smile and a resolved problem.
Now all I get is grief, frustration as well as “were so sorry to hear of this Mr. Rovinsky thank you for bringing this to our attention. We value your business and our escalation department will be forwarding this information to the district manager and then blah blah blah blah. Do I ever get a call back to discuss these issues? No. I get bupkis, zero, nothing!
I’ve been loyal to TCF Bank for almost 20 years.
My locksmith supplier (originally from Michigan) has me looking for another source after over 25 years.
We complain about the service we get, got or heard of but yet when we are on the receiving end of the complaint we are numb and quite blasé.
AT&T one of the largest offenders of customer injustice has been ex communicated from my life. I will never willfully or consciously do business purposely or inadvertently with AT&T. This company has truly lost reality. The amount of employees that leave them with horror stories is mind bending. I don’t use this word often but I hate, detest AT&T.
They were the Goliath and thank God they were slowly beaten by others who have the ability to shake them up. I hope and pray that AT&T will collapse and get acquired.
Is it only Verizon Wireless who does this these days? NO! TCF bank steals my money. Yes, they allowed a customer of another bank Monroe Bank & Trust deposit and process a check that had a stop payment order on it and was over a year old put it in his account and stole my money without protecting, caring or even trying to make it right.
This is what we get now a day. The human element has left and the LOL, BRB, IDK, has entered.
Employment tenure was something to brag about and so was the company you were employed at for those many years.
What does all this have to do with Longevity, commitment, dedication, assurance and loyalty?
Today, the time on the job, loyalty you showed a business or person means nothing. We are disposable, throw away. Just look at all of the dating sites. Businesses as well as others have no idea about loyalty. Now, I just look to get the best deal as well as who has what I need and when. Who is willing to work with me then and now, I don’t want to wait and I don’t want to settle. Forget all about the rest just give me me me me it’s all about me.
CONFESSIONS OF A LOCKSMITH, DAD, SON:
I too am guilty of the above in my relationships, friendships and
family. I’m not the pot calling the kettle black I’m guilty but realize it and just speaking my mind about the above situation that is damaging the younger generation’s belief that hard work, longevity and loyalty pays off. I have found that to be untrue.
